Repeat Customer Insights can automatically tag your customers in Shopify.
You can enable this inside the app in the Shopify Setting section. When enabled it will tag all of your customers and then keep up any changes to those tags automatically.
Initial tagging
The initial tagging of all customers can take awhile to finish. This is because of Shopify's API limitations.
Roughly 80,000 customers can be tagged per-day with Shopify Plus getting up to 800,000 customers tagged. The exact time will depend on how busy the app is, how busy Shopify is, and any other API importing processes.
If you notice your customers haven't been tagged after a week, please contact support.
Incremental tagging
As the system detects customer behavior it will update and sync their tags. This can be from any of the behaviors Repeat Customer Insights watches:
- new orders placed
- orders updated
- orders cancelled
- and the behavior of your other customers too
The tags will be added and removed from customers automatically.
Tags used
All tags are prefixed by RCI:
to make them easy to locate.
Currently a customer will receive 4-5 tags based on their automatic segments and customer grades. These will match the segments listed inside Repeat Customer Insights.
As more tags are added, this section will be updated.
Removing tagging
If you'd like to disable and remove the automatic tagging, that can be done in the app's Shopify Settings.
The system will automatically remove the tags from all customers that it added, though this will take some time (see Initial tagging above).
You can also remove the tags in Shopify but if you don't disable the automatic tagging, the next time the system syncs some of those tags will be added back. It's better to turn off the tagging in the app first.
