Google your business

Eleda shared this Tiny Tip with me:

Google your business name.

...What pops up? If you were hearing about the business for the first time, do the search results make you feel positive about the business? Can you tell what the business sells? What items pop up on the first search page? How do their listings look? What competitors show up on that first page, and how do their search listings look compared to yours?

I'd even go a few steps further too:

Years ago I hired a bunch of people to look at a website (mine) and describe the business in their own words. Some got my positioning and offer, but many were confused or didn't even know it was selling something. It was eye-opening to see how people navigate an unfamiliar website.

Getting that, often brutal, feedback can be really useful if you're willing to improve.

Directive: Google your business and make sure it's showing what you want
