Fixing high-traffic products that don't sell

Some products attract attention but don't sell that well.

These products bring in traffic but their sales and conversion rates are way below your normal.

They pose an interesting opportunity for you:

  1. They could be attracting low-quality traffic, aka never-buyers.
  2. Or they could be attracting fine traffic but those buyers just aren't interested in the product once they see it.

#1 sucks and is just a reality of some products.

#2 though, that could have legs. The problem is the product. Is the product bad? Is the PDP bad? Or is the traffic looking for something else?

You can always improve the product and the PDP but let's say those didn't work or you don't have time for that.

Try luring the traffic to other places instead. You can add a custom newsletter opt-in only for that product. Or create links to your better selling products.

Your goal is to siphon off some of the traffic that is bouncing and get them to a place that converts better.

You might find it worthwhile and easier than trying to increase traffic directly to those best-sellers.

Directive: Siphon traffic from weak pages to your stronger pages.
