Putting the growth genie back into the bottle

One goal a lot of Shopify stores have is growth.

More sales.

More customers.

More profit.

You have to be careful with growth though...

There are downstream problems that can break your company if you're not mindful of them.

Did you just 5x your traffic?

Great, but can your store handle that traffic?

Is it going to crash?

Did you pay for that traffic? Can you afford to float the cash for that ad bills while the products are fulfilled?

Most importantly, can you convert that traffic?

...

It doesn't take much to think of follow-up problems for 5x'ing your customers, orders, or anything else really.

Remember that different parts of your business scale at different stages. It might be a pain to hire an employee to help with shipping, but it's a larger pain to scramble to find more warehouse space or a supplier because you're getting orders piling up.

And be especially careful with uncorking the demand bottle (traffic, interest, etc). Getting an unexpected flood of traffic and orders exposes these scaling problems in the worst ways and under a ton of pressure.

If you want to grow your store and do it in a sustainable way without forking over increasing handfuls of cash for advertising, look to your existing customers first.

Having a system to get them to come back and buy again and again is a sustainable growth strategy that pays wonderfully.
