Shopify is now automatically installing the Shop channel app for new merchants.

I'd take this as another clear signal Shopify is pushing people into their marketplace. Soon you need to either:

  1. figure out how to optimize and standout there or
  2. do something so valuable on your storefront that shoppers would rather be there
